What it does

The Village Idiot may move all the other players’ cards one place around the table, to the left or to the right. His own card stays where it is, and so does every shielded card. The center is not touched.

Rules and edge cases

  • Skipping, or running out of time, moves nothing.
  • The shift goes around his own seat and around shielded cards: each moving card lands on the next seat that moves.
  • He wakes right after the Troublemaker and looks at no card.

How to play it

  • Say the direction out loud in the morning. After a shift, every claim about a dealt card is about the card in front of a neighbour, and the table cannot reason without it.
  • A shift takes each wolf card away from the player who was dealt it. Those players know which neighbour holds it now.

When it is in the deck

  • A player dealt a Werewolf knows where that card went. Watch who they defend.

If the Doppelgänger copies it

A Doppelgänger who looks at this card becomes a second Village Idiot. She plays its action at once, inside her own turn.

Wakes just before it: Troublemaker. Wakes just after it: Aura Seer.
